H&M have successfully housed collections from world renowned designers since late 2004. Karl Largerfeld set pace with his H&M exclusive collection that was reported to have sold out within the first hour inside major stores. Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf, Madonna, Roberto Cavalli, Kylie Minogue, Matthew Williamson, Jimmy Choo, Sonia Rykiel and many more also graced H&M with their presence over the past 8 years. More recently collaborations with Versace have been endorsed by reputable music artists with a sensational sense of style, such as Kanye West, who was seen sporting this memorable collection with pride.
Maison Martin Margiela is H&M’s latest collaboration that was announced six months prior the release date; 15th November 2012; find out why Maison Martin Margiela’s collection is considered to be a ‘Blind Date’ although the release date was known. This greatly anticipated collection has now reached its two week mark, but what do the critics haves to say? Did the hype of the collection exceed the standard of the output? Were expectations too high for the collection? Or maybe the anticipation felt like a nervy wait of a blind date that keeps you anxious but inevitably disappoints?
We’ve all seen the runway shots and even stumbled across Kanye West, once again wearing a piece or two, that kept us curious… but did the launch bring H&M what you expected? Honestly speaking Masion Martin Margiela specialise in rather unconventional clothing, which fuels the debate of acquired taste and preference. Maybe the labels exhaustive marketing campaign was not for the faint hearted, or is it possible that the since Diesel took ownership of the brand, Margiela’s designs have been lost in translation.
Now here’s the fun part; we’d love to know your verdict on this collection; whether you think it matched up to previous H&M collaborations and even possibly answer the question, “Who should H&M collaborate with next?” Leave your comments bellow or reply to the thread on our Facebook page!
